CPR – (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Our classes train you to recognize cardiac arrest, respond with effective chest compressions, and to use rescue breaths when necessary. Hands-Only CPR is used on adults or teens who suddenly collapse and stop breathing, while Traditional CPR includes rescue breaths and is recommended to be used on infants and young children. CPR is important to help pump blood to vital organs and extends the opportunity for a successful resuscitation once trained medical staff arrive on site.

AED Training

Ventricular fibrillation is the uncoordinated heart rhythm most often responsible for sudden cardiac arrest. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a medical device designed to analyze the heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to victims of ventricular fibrillation to restore the heart rhythm to normal. Our classes allow you to understand when and how to use an AED, which are placed in public areas to give the most effective treatment to cardiac arrest patients. CPR combined with using an AED provides the best chance of saving a life.

Bleeding Control

Severe bleeding is a leading cause of preventable death from traumatic injuries. Life-threatening bleeding is signified by blood spurting out of a wound, blood pooling on the ground, and clothing that is soaked in blood. In a Train to Save class, participants learn how to address life-threatening bleeding on the arm or leg with a tourniquet and direct pressure. Wound packing is another important skill taught to stop life-threatening bleeding that occurs at the neck, chest, and abdomen.

Child & Infant Emergency Care

Our courses teach life-saving skills tailored for babies and young children. It highlights the differences between adult and pediatric CPR, and allows for participants to practice their skills on both adult and infant CPR mannequins. Physicians from Rainbow Kids Pediatric Urgent Care are often present at events to guide participants through addressing common medical emergencies for infants. Q&A sessions are also held during events for participants to gain professional advice.
